My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Honey is a smart, fun, and people-pleaser 1.5yo adult white & beige cattledog mix. She was in the shelter in Gallup, NM, for three months—from mid-Oct 2024 to Jan 09 2025—before she was transferred to foster care in Longmont, Colorado. While Honey was at the shelter in New Mexico, she became "best buds" with another dog, Pennie, an approximately 2.5yo shepherd mix. Honey and Pennie love to play with each other and just be with each other... given the option, they'll both cram themselves into the same dog crate or share a dog bed for a nap.

As RezDawg Rescue seeks to give each rescue animal a chance at living their "best lives," we are prioritizing adoption applications from individuals or families that are interested in providing a forever home to both Honey and Pennie together.

Honey is full grown at about 40 lbs, has a youthful, "silly girl" personality, wags her stumpy tail furiously when she's happy or excited, and she rolls over to show you her belly for pets or scratchies (or during play, demonstrating her submissive nature). And of course Honey has the most amazing ice-blue eyes to look at you with love!

Pennie is full grown at about 50 lbs. She has a luxurious coat, a superthick tail, and she will offer a paw to shake or just to signal that she'd like some attention or a hug.

Both Pennie and Honey are spayed and up to date on their shots. Pennie is house trained, crate trained, dog-door trained, and she walks very nicely on leash. Honey is crate trained, is working on her house training (she may never have lived indoors consistently before her time in the shelter starting in Oct 2024), and is learning about the joys of daily walkies with her humans. Both Honey and Pennie are friendly to other dogs and are currently living in a home with three other dogs, male and female, from 19 lbs to 65 lbs in size. Both enjoy nylabones or playing with dog toys to work off any excess energy or compulsion to chew.

If you are interested in meeting Pennie and Honey in Longmont, Colorado, please submit your adoption application to RezDawg Rescue today!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We are doggie and kitty match-makers. We do everything in our power to assure that our dogs or cats will thrive in your environment.

Please start by submitting an application to adopt on our website. We do our best to respond to all applications but do to the number of applications received, this may always not be possible.

If you, your family and your lifestyle look like a good fit for the personality and needs of the animal, there's a phone call to chat and answer any additional questions. From there we will arrange a no-obligation meet and greet, where the animal could then go home with you, provided it is a good fit for all involved! (All this can happen within a week's time!)

A contract is signed at time of adoption. If for ANY reason you are unable to keep your companion, we quite passionately INSIST the animal be returned to us and NOT dropped in a shelter. We would happily take any of our adoptions back if it proves NOT a good fit for your family. :-)

Adoption fees include spay/neuter, microchip, basic vaccinations, (including rabies if old enough), deworming, rescue and transport costs, other medical services as needed (which can include but not limited to skin scrape, fecal exam, x-ray, amputation and hospitalization). Felines additionally receive an felv/fiv test and checked for ringworm with the Woods lamp prior to transport.

Adoption fees may vary due to special health circumstances, but typically start with...adult dogs (1 year and older): $425; puppies: $475; adult cats (1 year and older): $175; kittens: $250.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster based rescue ~ we DO NOT have a physical shelter at the moment. All of our dogs and cats reside in foster homes all throughout the Front Range and the Western Slope of Colorado. We have adoption events regularly at Petsmart stores in Denver, CO. If we do not have an event scheduled, we can arrange a time for you to meet one of our animals available for adoption.

More about this rescue

We relocate dogs and cats from high-intake shelters, animal control facilities, and reservations in the Four Corners area to animal rescue partners and forever homes in Colorado. We provide transportation to foster homes and other partner organizations, offer medical care and low/no cost spay and neuter services, manage a network of foster homes for temporary shelter, and run adoption events so that these animals can find forever homes.

Since March of 2012, we have transported thousands of at-risk dogs and cats to safety, solely on generous donations from caring individuals like you who see how dire the need is in and around the Navajo reservation.
