My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The most gentlemanly doggo!

Hi pals! My name is Gangar and top of the mornin' to ya! I am a 7 year, male neutered Dutch Shepherd mix. I am a big gentle boy of 50 lbs. I was on the unfortunate euth list in Downy, found as a car hit stray. But I recovered and was rescued in the nick of time. I have been such a good lad at my foster home! I am all done with my bathroom training and good on the leash. I dont like the crate, so let's not use it please. I have learned a few commands like sit and lay down and learning more. I have some separation anxiety but I have progressed so much more now and will continue with management and positive conditioning training. I do better with my foster dog buddy around me.

I am such a mellow and calm boy! I mostly nap around, wake up, follow my person with the sweetest tail wag, and then go snooze again by them. The most energetic time of my day is, drumrolls!!! Mealtime! And when my person come home. :) I have a foster dog sibling but we chill together, not quite playing yet. I am also timid on my walks and freeze when I see other dogs, walking and hiding behind my foster mama. Do make sure to double clasp my leash so that I dont get spooked and run away. I am not experienced around kids. A kid pet me once on my head and I dint react.

All in all, I am such a calm, mellow and gentle boy. I do love affection and boop my folks for some pets. All I want is a cozy and loving home. If my family can work from home and can spend most of the time with me, I will be fine by myself. If not, I will need a mellow dog sibling. I do need some company. Check me out on my foster sibling's IG: @teddytheweddybear

My adoption fee is $250 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
