Hi there! I'm Haunter, named after one of the coolest Pokemon ever (accordingly to my foster family anyway)! Don't worry, I'm not a spooky little guy, I'm actually very sweet, curious, and playful. I have an itty bitty cute little meow and you'll often find me purring to express my content while making biscuits--bed biscuits, lap biscuits, floor biscuits, and even air biscuits!
I like to bat toys (or anything small and bouncy like bottle caps and foam balls) around on my own and I LOVE chasing my wand toy with a little feathery bird on the end. I'm very respectful when I play with people and never use my claws. Sometimes I'll just reach out and put my paw on their hand--my foster family calls it "holding hands."
I'm a perfect mix of affectionate and independent. I will happily walk beside you and rub on your legs as you make your way through the house but I also like to explore on my own
It took me a few days to adjust to my foster home and foster family. Sudden or loud noises are a little scary. When I was living outside, I interacted with many other cats, but I've been a solo kitty since I started living inside so I probably wouldn't mind a friend to keep me company but if I'd be okay as your only companion, too!
Haunter is from an owner surrender. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page.
If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.
