Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
Sophie can do many tricks for treats, licks tears away when you cry, loves to play pull, likes to go driving/adventures (more glamper than camper), and will spend most of her day laying in the sun. Loves cuddles - when *she* wants it (mostly independent).
I got Sophie from the shelter in 2019. She was shy/anxious, but after a few minutes of gaining trust, she turned into this happy girl giving me all the kisses. Almost 6 years later and she is the same; think 25lb Chihuahua with a lot of love. She's on anti-anxiety meds, but still barks at strangers (dogs and people). No bites - only trouble is at the vet as she doesn't like feeling trapped.
There was a period when she was very good on walks and at dog parks, but it takes patience and consistency, and we have become caretakers for sick parents (so can't do that now).
A home with less trigger-stacking (meaning busy streets/backyards and loud noises) will do wonders for her as it gives her some time to recover from being 'on duty'.
