My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Niko is a stunning husky with a heart full of love and a lot of playful energy. He came into our care after being abandoned by his previous owner. Niko has shown us nothing more than how resilient and affectionate he is! From the moment you meet him, his sweetness is evident—he leans in for pets, snuggles up like a friendly cat, and takes treats ever so gently.

He’s well-mannered, knows how to “sit” on command, and he’s eager to please. He also loves squeaky toys and tennis balls and can’t wait to fully enjoy them once his cone is off.

This handsome boy is looking for someone to love and share adventures with. If you’re ready to meet your new best friend, meet Niko today!

Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet Niko at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering him.

Behavior notes:
01/15/2025 staff notes:
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Niko was sitting near the door of his kennel when the handler approached. He sniffed the leash curiously through the door with soft eyes and stood up with a wagging tail. He was patient while the handler got her leash around his cone, and exited on his own once secured.

LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally to moderately

HANDLING :
In the room Niko was very affectionate, and leaned in for pets right away. He rubbed his body against both handlers like a cat would! He allowed all handling right away, but was a little sensitive around his feet. WHen handling his feet he would pull them back consistently and try to wiggle away. Niko came when called and took treats very gently! He knew “sit” and was happy to sit very handsomely for treats. Overall, he is a very sweet, easy to handle husky!

PLAY:
Engages in play

TOYS:
Interest in toys, likes squeaky toys and tennis balls. Had trouble engaging with toys due to his cone.
