Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hi there! My name is Alexa, and while my fur may have a touch of gray, my heart is forever young! I’m a charming older lady with plenty of love to give, and I’m ready to spend my golden years in a warm and loving home. I came to High Country Humane after being found on my own, but now I’m looking ahead to the best chapter of my life—with you! Let me tell you a little about myself: I’m the perfect mix of independent and affectionate. One of my favorite things is simply hanging out with my human, sharing quiet moments and love.
I can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once we’re friends, you’ll see just how sweet and loyal I can be. I’m fully potty trained, crate trained, and I’ve even lived with cats before—though I mostly just ignore them. When it comes to other dogs, I’d prefer to be your one-and-only canine companion, and I’d thrive in a calm, quiet home without young kids. I’m also a pro at car rides, and chicken is my all-time favorite treat! If you’re looking for a sweet, mellow companion to share your life with, I might just be your perfect match. Let’s make my retirement years the happiest they can be—together! If I sound like your next pal, then come meet me! I want to show you how laid-back four-legged living is done. I have plenty of love left to give because love doesn’t keep track of years. Contact my foster to meet me at 907-303-7764!
Adopting with High Country Humane means your new pet is fixed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. We register that microchip (FREE!) and provide a free health exam with each adoption. Please bring a leash and collar for your new pet or plan to purchase a set at the shelter for $5 each. The shelter is open 11-5 PM, 7 days a week. We look forward to seeing you!
