My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Tater! I am a playful 6 month old puppy. I like to balance zoomies, chew toys and wrestling with a good nap curled up to whomever is laying down. I'm consistently going to the bathroom outside (even better if reminded!) and I'm a champ at sleeping through the night in my crate. I've even been to "camp" while my foster family was away, at Sawtooth Animal Center where I was told I was "a very good boy". When I was about 4 months, I was exposed daily for a month to horses and learned boundaries and to treat them with respect, which I think has been imprinted on me. Out on the trail, I am learning from the best, my foster sister. She's teaching me to stay close and my foster mom thinks I'm a natural off-leash. I just went for a snowshoe at Galena and had an absolute blast! I've also spent a lot of time socializing with other dogs and humans at the Dog Park - maybe you've seen me, I'm absolutely adorable and very friendly.

A note from my foster mom: Tater has been a joy to have in our home. He's spunky, snuggly and has formed an immediate bond with our older dog. He's got an athletic build and we're guessing he's some sort of shepherd mix. Tater is learning his name, basic commands, and the house rules (though, pro tip: he likes to chew paper (not shoes!) so keep garbage out of reach when you're not home). He does really well in his crate all night, though his first few nights in a new home you might need to reach in and let him sniff to help calm him. We will miss him, but know he is destined for a wonderful life with a special new family!

Additional adoption info

You’re interested in adopting? That’s great! We have many eager candidates who would love to meet you! If you have questions, please call us at 208-788-4351.

$150 Dogs (All ages)
$100 Kittens (Under 1 year, second kitten is free!)
$75 Senior and special needs dogs (7+,add'l care or meds needed)

We ask all who are interested in adopting an animal to fill out an adoption application. We interview all potential adopters with the goal of placing an animal with the correct family and compatible lifestyle. This is of prime importance – we endeavor to make this new home the animal’s residence for life. All of our animals must be spayed or neutered before leaving our facility as part of our adoption contract.

The adoption fees include spay / neuter costs as well as any vaccinations administered at the shelter. All animals are microchipped and your adoption fee covers the cost of a dog license for all of our Blaine County residents. You’ll also go home with a bag of food and a bag of goodies for your new pet!
