"Brutus" is an approximately 8 year old neutered shepherd/shepherd mix. We are fostering him from Calhoun County Animal Control in Jacksonville, AL. He was completely house trained when we brought him home!
Although he is an older guy, he loves to play fetch and just carry his ball around. He even carries it on walks and hikes. He loves people and kids! He is good with all sizes of dogs, male and female. He is currently in foster with another male dog and happy to just coexist. He naturally likes to stick by his people so I've been able to take him off leash for hikes, as long as it isn't a busy trail because he will want to say hello to everyone! And he has been good off leash around horses, pigs, and ducks with no problem. He came to us already knowing not to pull on the leash and is easy to walk. He lays right down in the car and enjoys going into stores like tractor supply. He tolerates bathing, blow drying, nail clipping, etc. He is a confident, easygoing dog and I've yet to hear him bark or see him watching out the window.
As far as dislikes go, he is not crate trained, and will bark and try to break out. We have been trying for weeks, but he much prefers to be left out to sleep on the couch while we are gone or sleeping. His new owners are more than welcome to try to crate train him; but ideally he would choose a home that lets him free roam their house. He would be well suited for a busier family or an older person that doesn't have the time or ability to extensively exercise or train a dog.

Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue started in 2011 rescuing German Shepherds and High Content Mixes from the Imminent Danger where they were sitting on Death Row in High Kill Animal Control Facilities in TN, NC, SC,KY, VA, GA & AL. Over 1000 Dogs lives have been spared and we've never worked so hard in our lives to save these wonderful kids. Our process from saving these kids includes 30 years of experience in working breed dogs. We conduct Safer Tests with all dogs to determine the abilities of the dogs so that we can match the right dog to the right family. We do not shove our dogs out the door. We do multiple videos of the dogs as well to our potential adopters. We disclose all positive and negative behavior traits so our adopters can work on any training the dog may need. IDGSR starts the rehabilitation and training with these wonderful kids and our adopters are part of the team of folks who help to ensure these kids will never suffer another day of hardship in their lives again. IDGSR will not take Aggressive Dogs into the Rescue.
