My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am 1 year old 55 pound boy that was caught as a stray. Staff members had seen me wandering around aimlessly while they were out searching for another dog. Something had caught their eye when I was on my adventure. I had my lower jaw hanging. I was so nervous when I was loose but I finally gave up and came and sniffed the back of one of the girls legs and she was able to leash me! I got my name when I was caught and the girls put me in the car and said, “Let’s go Joe!” ..And from there, my past is history..
The shelter waited to see if an owner came in to reclaim me, but they didn’t. My hold time was up and then the staff got me in to the vet! After X-rays they found I have trigeminal neuralgia, also known as idiopathic trigeminal neuropathy. It is a condition that resolves on its own. There is a slight possibility it can come back, but also a possibility that it won’t. It is a condition that affects the trigeminal nerve, which controls facial sensation and jaw movement. When this was occurring I was able to eat my food but I am a messy eater. I prefer to eat from a high rise feeder.
The shelter has tried to find a rescue for me but sadly, rescues are full, just like the shelters!
I’m a sweet boy that’s all tail wags and lovins. I’m not minding the kennel too much, but I would love to find my forever home. If you come see me you’ll find me sitting at the front of the kennel waiting for you to get me out. I walk pretty good on a leash and I am potty trained. I’m a very good boy at the vets office. The shelter staff know I deserve a loving home. The shelter staff fears I won’t find a home because of my condition and because I am a black dog. Can you prove them wrong because my awesome personality sure deserves a life of love. Please adopt me!
