I’m Turtle, a wrinkly-faced, snorting bundle of joy looking for my forever home! I love being petted, especially with some good butt scratches, but I’m also very curious and enjoy sniffing around the room. One of my favorite things is food—I might try to launch myself up to get to something tasty on the table, so I need an owner who can manage my food guarding tendencies. Because of this, I’d do best in a home without young kids. I’m not a fan of other dogs, so I’d love to be your one and only furry companion! I’m as cute as can be, though I’m a bit tricky to capture on camera (I’m too busy being adorable in real life!). Treats? I’m all about them! I’ll do anything for a tasty snack, and I’m a pro at fetching. I learned quickly to drop the toys in exchange for a treat! I also know “sit” and “down” and usually drop into a down all on my own. I may be an adult, but I walk with the enthusiasm of a puppy—spunky and a low-rider, but full of energy! I also enjoy ear rubs, tummy rubs, and being petted all over. TAILS Humane Society is a limited admission animal shelter providing a safe haven for almost 2,400 animals each year. We are committed to providing each animal the time and medical care they need to have their best chance at adoption.
TAILS was established in 1999 by a group of local animal advocates dedicated to bringing a comprehensive animal shelter to DeKalb. We operated out of an old farmhouse until 2005 when we cut the ribbon on our Barber Greene facility. In 2009, we opened our low cost Spay/Neuter Clinic providing quality, affordable sterilization services to the public. We continue to grow and strengthen our programs and service as we continue to save lives.
