My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oh Biff. What a big ham you are!!

Biff was found tied to a pole here in Vancouver next to a bowl of water. We are not sure what his story is but it is evident he was not wanted. He is the biggest, kindest, friendliest dog ever and he is quickly becoming a staff favorite.
Biff has some ongoing health issues that will likely need lifelong treatment for. He has severe food allergies and is being treated for skin and nail bed infections due to the allergic response he has been suffering. He has now been neutered and is on a refeeding regiment as he was quite underweight. He is currently 85 lbs and could still use some more pounds. He is also not the most well put together dog but what he lacks for in structure, he makes up for in temperament!! He is a LOVE!
Biff is great with every person and dog he has met so far and displays absolutely no aggressive or reactive behaviors.
It appears he may have been mistreated in his previous home as he is head shy and will cower when objects are held up in the air. He walks VERY well on leash. He stays with you and watches you if you have treats. He looks to his handler for reassurance when something looks a bit scary and is very easily persuaded that everything is fine if you tell him so. He is a big scavenger so you do need to watch that he won't eat trash or anything resembling food when you are with him. He is a calmer dog but definitely enjoys going for his walks. Biff is a big boy and due to his size and past abuse, we feel he would be best suited for adults but may be ok with older children/teenagers.

Please note: Due to ongoing health issues, fee is reduced. This dog will most likely need ongoing veterinary care for his lifetime.

More about this shelter

Want to adopt a pet and give them a forever home? We're thrilled! Our pro-adoption shelter places 200 to 300 dogs and small animals every year with families and homes that best meet the needs of the animals.

We have dogs of all ages, from newborn puppies to senior dogs. While puppies are popular, older dogs can be great pets, too. They are smart and grateful companions that won't leave you with puppy puddles or chewed-up slippers. Why not enrich your life and that of an older dog?

We also adopt out small animals including rabbits, hamsters, birds, rats, guinea pigs, and sometimes reptiles.
