Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hello! My name is Monty, and I'm a handsome mutt. We are not sure what my breed is, but we are thinking I may be a Boxer and Lab mix. I have striking black fur and white markings. At just over a year old, I weigh about 85 pounds.
I have great playful energy, always ready for a game of fetch, tug or whatever else you may be up for. I am a food-driven pup which makes me easy to train. I know how to sit and lay down, and I'm working on wait and stay. I absolutely love car rides and adventures. During walks, I like to sit down and lean against my walking buddy for some loving, and I have a unique way of talking with a howling voice to my people. I'm also a big fan of cuddling on the couch when it’s time to relax.
I'd be great with older children due to my size and energy, and I'm friendly with other dogs. However, I may need a big playmate who can handle my size and energy. While I have not had much exposure to other dogs while in foster care, we think I might resource guard food and toys from other dogs. I'm not good with cats or small animals, so a home without them would be best for me.
I've had some challenges in the past, like spinning and attacking my tail, which caused a severe injury. But thanks to my rescue, I had my tail partially docked, and with regular exercise, I'm no longer focused on my tail. I would thrive in an active home and would make a great hiking partner or possibly an agility dog. I love to leap like a deer when running in the yard, and a half-hour of chasing a ball wears me out if we can't go for a walk. A fenced-in yard would be ideal for me, especially a taller one since I'm such a big boy.
I have been neutered, vaccinated, and tested negative for heartworm. I'm house-trained and crate-trained, and I'm currently working on my leash manners. I'm currently being fostered in Greenville, NC, but I can be transported if we're a match! If you're looking for a loving, energetic, and loyal companion, please fill out an application to meet me. I can't wait to find my forever home!
