My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Harpy (A136712) is a 2-year-old large-sized alaskan husky who weighed 35.3lbs at intake!

01/15/25 Miss Harpy is back at the shelter because her adoptive owner was pcsing overseas and did not think she would do well on the flight. Harpy was said to be anxious, and we encouraged her next owner to speak with their vet on the best ways to help her cope. Harpy has not mastered potty training and is looking for a patient owner who can continue to work with her. In her original home she was said to be housebroken so she may just need some reminders and a consistent routine. Her prior owner also noted that she loves to chew on everything! Providing her with plenty of mental and physical stimulation should help with providing outlets for her energy and possible boredom. Her adoptive owner did note that she is scared of squeaky toys and has a shyer personality. She can be fearful of new dogs but was said to do well with the cats in the home. Please ensure you are making appropriate introductions with all new animals and supervising their interactions! If you are interested in meeting Harpy, please let us know!

11/23/24 This agile young lady is Harpy! Harpy was brought to the shelter because she was not keeping up with the dog team she currently lived with. Harpy was said to prefer being a house pet, but she has not seemed very comfortable inside during her stay at the shelter. she is looking for a patient home that is willing to help her become comfortable indoors and discover just how comfy a couch can be! Harpy was said to be kennel trained and housebroken. We have noticed that she can be a bit of a door bolter here at the shelter, so she is also hoping her next home will be conscientious of this and hopefully have her securely leashed prior to opening the door. Harpy can be shy at first, but she is quite sweet if given the opportunity to warm up. She would most likely love to stay active on a rec team or even skijoring! If you are interested in meeting Miss Harpy, please give the shelter a call!January 15, 2025, 11:52 pm
