What a gem Dixie is! There are so many things to love about this sweetheart! She's such a love, so kind and gentle and affectionate with those big soulful eyes she'll just melt your heart. She's a cuddler, although sometimes shy upon first meeting, but then soaks up being close and loved on. She's also a nature loving girl who adores being active in the great outdoors. She's proving to be quite the athlete too - very agile. And fast. And the perfect petite size of about 30 lbs. She'd make a terrific companion for a nature loving person whose looking for a four legged loyal friend to be active outside with. A home with a large fenced in yard is a definite plus as she is still working on mastering recall but absolutely loves running and romping at full throttle. We're excited to find the perfect home for Dixie as we know her forever home will be a lucky one indeed. Her days prior to being rescued of being tied up outside banished from the family home (due to supposed allergies) are behind her. Dixie is gorgeous, inside and out. She's doing wonderfully in her foster home learning all kinds of positive social skills both with humans and with other dogs. In fact, she's made a very good canine friend - a 1 year old male hound mix named Evan - in her foster home seeking him out to play and cuddle with - they are adorable together and have become somewhat besties. It so happens that Evan is also looking for a forever home so if you'd be interested in keeping them together, please let us know as they would be a wonderful pair to their new family and would be delighted they can stay together. Dixie being true to the blue heeler breed, is smart, curious and athletic and would really thrive with a loving, attentive, nurturing family that will include her in many active, outdoor outings - she'd be a great hiking companion. She's eager to please and to learn new things. She knows sit, down and is working on stay and recall. She's house-trained, up to date with vaccinations and micro-chipped. Dixie's estimated birth date is 11/15/23. If this sweet girl speaks to you, please email us for an application at adoptions@smilingdogfarms.org
Please note that Dixie is currently being fostered in Henniker, NH. Approved applicants will have the opportunity for a meet and greet prior to adoption.
