My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Felecia:
Your New Best Friend and Playmate!
Hey there! My name is Felecia, and I’m here to tell you a little bit about myself—because, let’s face it, everyone could use a bit more of me in their lives. 😉
I’m not your average kitty. Oh no, I’m playful, inquisitive, and a little goofy (okay, maybe more than a little, but that’s just part of my charm). If you’re looking for a feline friend who’s always up for a good time, I’m your girl!

How I Found My Way to a Better Life
My story started in a bit of a scary way. One day, I was wandering all alone in the woods, just hours before Hurricane Helene was about to hit our area. Luckily, my amazing foster family found me just in time, and they brought me inside to safety. My foster brother even picked out my name—Felecia! It’s a perfect fit because it means “lucky,” and boy, am I lucky!
I have a little bit of a past that makes me even more special. When I was just a tiny kitten, I had an untreated eye infection, which left me with some ulcerative scar tissue and made me slightly vision-impaired. But don’t let that fool you—I may not see the world perfectly, but I sure can find my way around. I’m super adaptable, and I don’t let anything slow me down, especially when there’s fun to be had!

I’m All About Playtime
Toys? Yes, please! I love my toys—whether it’s chasing a feather, batting at a ball, or just pouncing on whatever moves. My cat tunnel and scratch post are my absolute favorites. There’s something so satisfying about zipping through that tunnel like a ninja, or stretching my paws out on that scratch post. It’s the best thing since, well, the sunbeam that hits my favorite window spot.
Speaking of which, I do love soaking up some sun by the window. There’s something magical about a cozy nap in the warm sunlight. But don’t get too comfortable thinking I’ll just be snoozing all day. I’m way too curious for that. You’ll usually catch me sneaking around, checking things out, and figuring out what’s going on in the world around me.

Playful and Ready for a Playmate!
Here’s the deal: I really love my fellow feline friends. I currently live with three other cats and I’d be absolutely thrilled to join a home with another playful kitty who’s up for some fun and games. Whether it’s a game of hide-and-seek or just a good old-fashioned wrestle, I’m always ready to play.
I’m also pretty cool with the other members of my household. There’s a dog (he’s fine, I guess) and a 4-year-old human who loves to give me attention, and I’m all about it—just as long as they know I like to keep things on my own terms sometimes. But really, I’m more about hanging with my fellow cats.
Oh, and when it’s time to wind down for the night? I’m all about cuddling up with my humans. There’s nothing quite like the comfort of being close to the ones you love, and I’m more than happy to curl up beside you and purr myself to sleep.

Could You Be My New Family?
I’m looking for a home where I can be my playful, goofy self and find another kitty (or kitties) who’ll join me in my adventures. If you’re looking for a spunky, fun-loving, and just a tad mischievous cat to add to your family, I might just be the perfect fit! So, what do you say? Let’s get together and see if we’re a match. After all, I’m ready to bring some sunshine, fun, and love into your life!

  • Our goal is finding lifelong, loving homes for our animals, so we try to find the best match between animal and adopter. We can help advise you on which animals to meet based on your situation.

  • You can meet some of our animals at our weekend adoption events, or we can arrange for a meeting in the foster home. If it’s a good match, the foster parent will come to visit your home in person. This is to make sure your home is safe and secure for a new companion animal.

More about this rescue

IAR started with one woman's big dreams, a bigger heart, and a very distinctive purple pickup truck that helped her rescue countless of unwanted, abused, and homeless Triangle pets. Originally founded in 1994, IAR earned an official 501(c)(3) status in 1995. We are governed by a Board of Directors, managed by elected officers, and introduced IAR’s first paid position, General Manager, in June 2021. This role will assist with elevating our collective compassion to new heights and strengthening IAR’s impact as a whole.

Our mission is to rescue and provide safe and responsible care for homeless, abandoned, and abused animals. We shall strive to help all animals in need through our service programs. We will serve our communities through promotion of spay/neuter for all companion animals, and the education of children and adults in humane care, respect and responsibility for animals on this earth.
