My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Thor, a 6 year old Terrier, American Pit Bull mix. Thor, a shy yet friendly soul, whose gentle spirit resonates with everyone he meets. He`s an adult dog who carries a mellow demeanor, a sweet temperament, and a heart full of love. While Thor can be a bit reserved at first, he warms up quickly, showing his friendly nature. He would do best in a home with children aged 10 years and up, as his calm demeanor pairs well with older kids. If there are other dogs in the home, a meet and greet would be beneficial to ensure compatibility. Thor`s gentle, loving nature and his friendly disposition make him a wonderful addition to any family. His sweetness and mellow attitude are sure to bring joy and serenity to his forever home. Adopt Thor, and let his gentle spirit fill your home with love and tranquility.

Thor will need an indoor home and a secure containment area to stay safe from wandering and escaping. Positive reinforcement, fear-free training will be needed. Daily exercise and mental enrichment will be very important. If you have other dogs in your home, we would be happy to arrange a meet and greet with your dog(s) to make sure everyone gets along. We don’t know how he will do with cats.

Thor is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, neutered, and ready to go home today.

More about this shelter

West Valley Humane Society is an open-admission animal shelter in Southern Idaho. Serving all of Canyon County, and surrounding areas. We take in the stray, surrendered, abandoned, neglected animals in our community. In 2017, we took in 7,778 animals. We believe that every animal deserves a second chance.

We contract with the cities of Nampa, Caldwell and Canyon County to house stray and owner surrender animals that their ACO's, or the general public, bring to us.
