My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gladis, a 3.5-year-old black lab mix with a heart full of love and a tail full of wags. Found as a stray with no identification, Gladis has shown herself to be a friendly and calm companion, greeting everyone with gentle enthusiasm. In her kennel, she’s relaxed, but the moment she slips her head through the leash, she’s ready for adventure.

Outside is where Gladis truly shines. She loves to run and is a champion at fetch, and could play endlessly all day, everyday. If you Gladis you`ll get plenty of practice pitching! Gladis knows how to sit and accepts treats with the utmost gentleness. If you’re looking for a loyal and active friend, Gladis is ready to bring endless fun and companionship to your life.

Additional adoption info

HSSM is home to over 300 pets on any given day, most of which are looking for new forever homes! Your new best friend could be waiting at HSSM right now. Our beautiful, 41,000 square foot facility is currently open to the public. HSSM is open for adoptions Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary to adopt, however, adoptions are first-come, first served. You must come to HSSM to complete your adoption and make sure you bring a photo ID, as it is required to complete adoption paperwork.
Our adoptable animals page is self-updating and displays ALL of HSSM’s adorable adoptable pets from “pocket pets” to birds and of course the hundreds of dogs and cats currently calling HSSM home! See one you like? Make sure you note your favorite’s name and animal ID number so that HSSM staff and volunteers can easily find him/her when you come in!
Adoptions are cut off every day about 30 minutes prior to closing and possibly earlier if volume is high. Weekends are busy and you may have to wait more than an hour (especially in the afternoons) so please be prepared.
