Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Brando was born in a shelter in early December. He, his mom, and his five sisters lived at the shelter for a week after his birth before being transferred to a foster home. Despite this rough beginning, the whole family has proven to be loving, snuggly, and generally happy go lucky! Mama Ginger is a pit mix, well-mannered and friendly. We do not know what Dad looks like, but looking at the litter as a whole it’s entirely likely that he was a hound or hound mix. We cannot guarantee any specific breed mix or adult size, but we expect Brando to be a medium-large dog when fully grown.
Brando has been doing well with crate and potty learning and will need patience and consistency to be his best. He’s a playful, dopey boy who loves a good snuggle and has a habit of falling asleep on laps then rolling off and being confused. He currently lives with two dogs, one of which is small and deaf, multiple children ages 7 and up, and one of his sisters. He gets along with everyone and is ecstatic to greet everyone he can. He loves to run in the yard and play with toys, and since he’s still small enough to pick up, he enjoys getting a big hug and giving kisses. His tail is always going!
Brando can be vocal when excited or worried. So far his barking is limited to play time and asking other dogs to play, or when he is alone and sad. Generally he settles quickly and has been fine without human attention for hours when with his sibling in a safe space. Because his barking is loud but limited, those living with shared walls should consider how they would work with this. Brando may do best with a playmate in the home, but he is young and could adjust to a variety of situations. He is a social pup though and if he is an only dog, he would thrive with consistent play time with other dogs!
