Willow is looking for her forever home to continue living her best life ever! Please submit an application today for her. The link is: https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC.
Willow is a middle-aged/senior dog (around 8 - 10 years young!) who has clearly raised a lot of puppies in her life. Sadly, she was found in a pitiful condition in a quiet rural area in southern Lee County, NC that is known as a dumping ground for abandoned dogs. Willow was taken to the shelter in an emaciated condition and bears the physical scars of a previous not-so-kind life.
Since being in her foster home, she has gained much-needed pounds and is now looking for her forever home. Despite her past, Willow is a very friendly dog who gives everyone a gentle wag! S he is quick to learn and really wants to please. She gets along well with the 4 lively dogs in her foster home and one cat! She shows no interest in the foster's backyard chickens or wildlife.
Willow has learned to walk nicely on a leash, she does not pull at all and has great house manners. She currently weighs 56lbs - and will make around 65lbs when fully back to her healthy weight.
Willow is currently being crate trained, and although not a fan initially, she goes in readily for a treat and her food. She is quiet and sleeps through the night in her crate. She has recently been house-trained but should be taken outside on a regular schedule to get her acclimated to her new home. After everything she has endured in her earlier life, Willow would now LOVE to have a work-from-home/stay-at-home or retired owner.
This easy-going, peaceful soul could live with other dogs or would be fine as an only dog. Due to her past, Willow does not like to share her food or toys with the other dogs in her foster home but lets people take them easily without any issue. .
Willow is a quiet calm dog and while she would like a secure fenced yard to sniff around in and explore, she would be fine with regular daily walks. She is so quiet she would probably be fine with ground-floor apartment living. She is gentle, affectionate, and loving, and will be a perfect addition to a family, couple, or single person looking for a loyal companion. Please consider sharing your home and life with this wonderful dog who deserves to be treated like a queen now.
Like most stray dogs, Willow has heartworm disease and is currently being treated by Best Friend Pet Adoption. BFPA will continue to provide her heartworm preventatives until she tests negative. This condition is not contagious and she is expected to make a full recovery.

Applicants should ideally live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized. Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions. We therefore prefer applicants that live within an hours drive of Cary NC.
