“Guess what I found?” the caller replied when I answered the phone. This caller had reached out a few days prior about some sick kitten which were already in my care. She thought there might be one more out there but wasn’t sure. That day she was sure as she had snagged a tiny black and white kitten outside. When I arrived to pick her up, BJ was riding around contentedly in the woman’s hoodie pocket. BJ stands for Bobby Jo because the woman who found her thought she was a boy.
BJ was born purring and in love with everyone. She was underweight, had flea anemia, and an ugly upper respiratory infection but she used all the fight she had to grow and get well—all while purring and loving despite how sick she felt. She is now thriving, has that slinky, silky side to side sway when she walks. She cuddles equally with the dogs and the other foster kittens. She loves to snuggle down with other warm bodies—human, canine, or feline. She will give you the contented slow blink, reach her paw out to gently touch you and you are captivated by her charm. She likes to play with balls, dangle toys, and an empty Chewy box.
