My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Please note: Rosie is not at the Animal Rescue League of NH. She is being posted here in hopes of preventing her surrender. For more information about Rosie please email her owner at: mmlemire@comcast.net

Rosie is a beautiful almost 3 yr old, purebred redbone coonhound.
While Rosie is high energy she is showing slight signs of calming down as she gets older.

She is very intelligent, yet stubborn, a common hound trait. She is teachable as long as there are many treats and not many distractions. She had had 8 weeks of private training. She knows basic commands, sit, stay, come and she will give high 5. With a little more practice she would be good in a leash. She is able to run freely in the yard under supervision so she is not often on a leash. She has been trained with a sport dog e collar to learn the boundaries in her yard, so could potentially do well learning a new electric fence system.

She has been excellent with kids, men, women, teenagers. She is a hound and uses her voice. At times she can sound threatening but is secretly scared of her own shadow. She really wants to jump on strangers and give kisses. She is great with other dogs as there are other dogs in the house. She has also been to doggie daycare many times and boarded over nights. We have always received positive report cards from her.

Rosie has a mischievous side and should not be left unsupervised outside of her crate. She’s been known to eat whatever she can get in her mouth, socks and small toys being her favorite. A k9 ballistic bed works well in her crate, as blankets and soft beds are easy to consume. She’s had to have surgery in the past, but fortunately not in the last year.

Our sweet girl is currently on apoquel, a medication to help manage allergies. It appears it might be more environmental, as we’ve ruled out foods as the cause, and her itchiness increased when a new dog was added into the home.

Rosie’s favorite thing to do is play fetch. She will chase a ball for hours. She loves attention. Unfortunately, with our busy schedules we are just not able to provide Rosie with the attention she needs to thrive. A family that lives a busy outdoor adventure lifestyle would be perfect for this girl who is on the go. And the best part, after a day full of adventures she will cuddle on the couch for some prime time tv watching.

Rosie has so much potential, she just needs a family that will help her reach it.
