My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Ben is ready to find his family!

Ben arrived to us as a stray that went unclaimed, so no background history is known. He is very energetic and loves to play tug of war. Although sometimes he gets carried away and will start tugging on your sleeve instead of the toy. He also gets a little too excited and will jump up and get mouthy, so we are recommending no young children.

Ben will need an active home that is willing to work on some basics, as he is still learning to walk on leash and be inside buildings. Ben loves his people time, and looks forward to cozying up on the couch with his people. He isn't too bothered being alone during the day, he loves a stuffed kong to keep him busy while his people are away. He enjoys a game of chase/catch me if you can in a fenced yard and is an overall happy guy!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
