My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Miss Remy is a gorgeous senior boy who would love a home for the holidays! As an older pup, a calm household is ideal for Remy. He would love nothing more than to be your personal couch potato and snuggle bug all in one! He is incredibly affectionate and is patiently awaiting his one true love. Stop by to meet Remy today!

Email adoptions@southsuburbanhumane.org with any questions! We want to make the process of adopting a new pet as stress-free as possible.

All pets adopted from SSHS go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on routine vaccinations.

More about this shelter

The South Suburban Humane Society (SSHS) incorporated in 1970 as a small group of volunteers who brought homeless pets into their homes and worked to find them permanent homes. From those humble origins, we grew to a 501c3 nonprofit organization operating a 19,000 square foot animal resource campus in Matteson, IL that takes in more than 4,000 pets annually, a Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic, a Low-Cost Veterinary Services Clinic, and a variety of far-reaching community services. The SSHS annually impacts 20,000 pets and the people who love them through these programs.
