My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Zara!

This 5-month-old mixed breed is a bundle of energy, curiosity, and charm. According to her foster, Zara responds best when addressed by her "government name," Zara Jane—fancy, right?

Highly intelligent and eager to please, this clever girl has already mastered sit, stay, shake, and even high five! With consistent training, her potential is endless. Zara is still honing her leash skills but is making great strides in learning patience.

Zara loves to romp around with other playful dogs and adores kids, though she’s still learning to curb her enthusiastic jumping. Her foster describes her as clumsy at times—think Bambi on ice—but always endearingly so. As a puppy at heart, she’s full of joy and spunk, and she would do best kenneled when you’re not home to keep her curiosity in check.

Zara hasn’t met cats yet, but she’s ready to find a family who will love her adventurous spirit and help her grow into the amazing dog she’s meant to be. Could that be you?

All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and treated if necessary.

More about this shelter

It Takes A Village Rescue, Inc. is a non-kill 501(c)(3) rescue dedicated to doing what it takes to find loving homes for stray, abandoned, and surrendered animals, and to keep these animals safe and free from further suffering. Our mission is "To work as one in helping homeless animals irrespective of breed, location or circumstance." By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, veterinarians and partner rescues or shelters, we are able to rescue countless animals every year and provide them with loving temporary care as we work to find them well-matched forever homes. Although we do not discriminate based on breed, size or color, we have a particular interest in bully breeds, special medical needs, senior dogs, black dogs and other hard-to-place animals.
