My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet OJ, an adorable 6-month-old puppy with an infectious personality and a playful spirit that will brighten any room! OJ came to us as a stray, but he’s quickly shown that he’s ready for a fresh start and a loving home. Full of energy and curiosity, OJ loves exploring the world around him, chasing after toys, and playing with anyone who’s up for the fun. His playful nature makes him the perfect companion for an active family or individual looking for a furry friend to bring joy and laughter to their days.

Though OJ is still a puppy, he’s already showing great potential to grow into a loyal and loving companion. He’s eager to learn and would thrive in a home where he can continue his training, socialization, and lots of playtime. If you're looking for a joyful, energetic puppy to add some excitement to your life, OJ is the perfect match. He’s ready to leave his stray days behind and embark on the adventure of a lifetime with his forever family!

Their adoption process

1.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Adopters can stop in during open hours to find their new pet! There may be different criteria based on the individual animal.

2.

Submit Application

Our application is more of a survey in person. We find out more about your home and lifestyle to make sure the adoption will be fur-ever.

3.

Meet the Pet

We will provide you with all the information on the pet and then set you up with a space to interact with your potential new best friend.

4.

Sign Adoption Contract

Super easy and can be done through your phone!

5.

Pay Fee

Yep! Fees vary based on age and species.

6.

Take the Pet Home

So long as the pet is already spayed/neutered, they can go home the same day as adoption. Congratulations!

Additional adoption info

We invite you to visit the shelter locations and meet the animals and the adoption team!

Our adoption process is aimed at matching you, your family and your current pets with our animals for adoption. An adoption counselor will introduce you to our animals in a private meeting room. We will share information about the animal's medical and behavioral needs as well as their history.

When you find the right pet for you and your family, the adoption counselor will assist you in completing the proper paperwork. This process includes signing an adoption contract, reviewing medical history and providing proper pet care information.

What you will need in order to adopt:

A valid photo ID with your current address.

We recommend all members of the household meeting the animal before adopting.

If you are interested in adopting a dog and have other dog(s) living in your household, it is recommended that all dogs meet each other at the shelter.

Certain animals require additional steps or requirements.

Adoption fee is accepted in cash or credit/debit card. Checks, American Express, Discover, Care Credit are not accepted as payment.

PLEASE NOTE: We are not able to place a hold or accept a deposit for animals that are not available for adoption, that you have not done a formal meet and greet with, or over the phone. Adoptions are approved for the first qualified home. Adoption is not guaranteed and is at the discretion of Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh.
