My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, I`m Jacksonville. I may be a little shy at first, but give me some time and you`ll find I`m as sweet as they come. I`m the kind of cat who likes to keep to myself, but when I`m in the mood for cuddles, I`m all yours. I`m mellow and gentle, the perfect companion for a quiet night in. I`m loyal too, once I choose you, you`re my person. I`m friendly, always happy to meet new people, but I`m also independent, happy to entertain myself when you`re busy. Why should you adopt me? Because I`m the perfect mix of independent and loving, and I`ll make your house feel like a home.

More about this shelter

The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society was founded in 1926 and incorporated in 1949. The Humane Society has a publicly-tendered contract with the City of Windsor to provide animal control and basic shelter services in the City. This is only a portion of the work done by our organization. In 2016 almost 12,000 animal came through the doors of our shelter and spay/neuter clinic. We can’t help them without your support.
