My name is LUCY*!

Meet Lucy, the juvenile female rex mix! Lucy came to the Shelter as an owner surrender after the previous guardian was unable to continue caring for her. Sean came in with her “brother” Sean and may, after a period of re-acclimation, be able to live with him again but is currently living separately as they both came in not yet spayed and/or neutered. Lucy did not live with other types of animals in the previous home. She was around children and would get startled when they would get near and try to grab. Some gentle desensitization to handling and/or approach will be key to helping Lucy become more comfortable with handling. Lucy enjoyed eating hay, cabbage, fruit and vegetables in her previous home.

Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
