My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Rip is a 3-year-old 65 lb neutered male shepherd mix who needs a foster or adopter by mid February; his current owner is relocating out of state and cannot take him with. Rip is a smart and goofy shepherd who is loyal and affectionate with his people and has basic obedience training. He currently goes to doggy daycare at Dogtopia several times a week and does well with other dogs and staff there. Since meeting DGS he has been reintroduced to the crate and has done well with staying in there for several hours alone as well as overnight. In true shepherd form he is aloof at first with new people, particularly men, but warms up very quickly. He has previously lived with children with no issues, and has no bite history.

Evaluation Notes: Rip is a beautiful shepherd mix with intelligent eyes. Meeting a female he was fine after just a few sniffs and was happy to work on commands with a new person. Meeting a male he gave a few tentative woofs but quickly settled after sniffs and being ignored. He had no suspicion or nervousness around a small child. He met both male and female dogs on leash with a little excitement but overall polite. He hasn't been crated for two years but is adjusting well with current owner to the crate again. He is house-trained. Would benefit from some confidence building and someone familiar with large breed dogs but has an overall good temperament and will make a loyal companion.

Dogtopia Redmond Notes: Rip is a great canine citizen, plays well at daycare and is an overall happy pup with lots of silly personality to boot.

Adoption Info: The adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, flea/tick treatment, deworming, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization.

Animal History: Rip was originally adopted/rehomed from a family in Denver who did not have time for him as an adolescent to a young man who is now moving out of state and cannot take him with. Rip needs foster placement or adoptive placement by mid February 2025.
