*Bonded Senior Pair*
Dog Name: Archer (tan) & Zoey (white&black)
Breed: Chihuahuas
Sex: Male & Female
Age: 8
Weight: 8 & 10 lbs, respectively
Medical Needs: Zoey is heartworm positive & has a heart murmur, so the fast kill option to treat the heartworms is not advised at this time. She will be rechecked in a few months to see how she has responded to just being on preventatives.
Archer is missing most of his teeth and has lost most of his lower jaw because of it, so he needs to eat wet food.
They both have luxating patellas and will occasionally walk with one back leg in the air.
Housebroken: No. They will use puppy pads, but if given free roam without supervision they will absolutely go anywhere they please.
Crate trained: Yes. They love their crate.
Good in the car: Yes
Good on a leash: They don't really understand what it is and will freeze if you try to pull them along.
Energy level: Low
Need a fenced in yard: Yes
Dog Friendly: Yes
If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No
Cat Friendly? Unknown
Kid Friendly: Unknown
If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Older teens only. They are scared of fast movements and loud noises.
Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them?
Archer and Zoey were rescued from a hoarding/neglect situation in GA. During this time, they were house in a kennel with several other dogs with limited human interaction. They understand that people bring them food, and that's about it. They are not snappy or bitey, preferring to run to the safety of their crate when scared/nervous.
They deserve so much better than what life previously gave them, especially now in their senior years. A quiet home with people who are willing to accept that these 2 seek affection only from each other initially and will need an extensive warmup period before they get comfortable in a new home.
They absolutely love to stroll around the yard in the warmer months and roll around in the grass. They also love beds. The fluffier the better. They really just seek out any and all sources of comfort they can find now that they know what it feels like.
