My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.

Meet Sarge – Your New Best Friend and Protector!
Say hello to Sarge, a 1-year-old German Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and loyalty. While this handsome guy may look like he’s on duty, he’s actually a big softie at heart and is looking for a family to share his affection with.
Sarge's Mission:Sarge is all about protecting his people, and he takes his job seriously. He’s always on patrol, keeping an eye on things—but that doesn’t mean he’s not ready to shower you with love the moment you walk in the door. His tail wags like crazy when he sees you, and he’ll nudge you for a good belly rub before getting back to his 'duties.'
A Lover in Disguise:Though he’s a natural protector, Sarge is a total sweetheart! He’s extremely happy to be around people and loves to show it by nudging you for more attention and giving you all his affection. His perfect balance of guarding and loving makes him the ideal companion.
Good with Dogs & Kids:Sarge is great with other dogs and children, making him a perfect addition to an active family. Whether you’re going for walks, playing in the yard, or just relaxing at home, Sarge will be by your side, ready to protect and love you every step of the way.
If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving dog who’s ready to keep you safe and snuggle you at the same time, Sarge might just be the perfect fit for you.

He is neutered, UTD on
vaccines, microchipped, and started on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations.

More about this rescue

Adopt-A-Stray was founded in Jan. 2010, by Kelley Prichard. Since then, it has grown to include a few wonderful volunteers who work very hard to help ensure that our pets are place in loving, forever homes. We are based in Alexander, AR, but we list all of our available pets in the northeast. We work with several different transporters to get our babies to their new homes in the northeast once they are adopted. The transporter we use most often Pack Leaders (www.plrdogtransport.com). All pets are given age appropriate vaccinations before they leave. Every pet is seen by our vet prior to transport. If you see a pet listed that interests you, please be sure to read the description thoroughly and inquire to the email address listed. Thank you for considering a rescue dog!
