My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Chance is loving his second chance at life! He is a happy boy who loves chasing leaves in the yard, playing with tennis balls, chewing bones and exploring new things. He does like to steal foster mom's slippers sometimes, but he's a good boy who gives them back unharmed--as long as you'll give him some cuddles in return.

Chance is dog friendly and loves to play. He'll play tug, "chase me," wrestling, whatever! As long as everyone's having fun, Chance is always down. He has met young children and wanted to play with them too! He doesn't live with kids but he did well during his "play date." He also does well with big humans--he'll greet with a tiny little tail wag but before you know it he's coming in for "the lean," putting his head on your shoulder and begging for love.

Chance is also crate trained and potty trained. He sleeps through the night in his crate (although he does need to go out every 4-6 hours or so during the day, depending on how much he eats and drinks). He learned to go to the door and whine to go out all by himself--smart boy.

Chance is great in the car and learning about the leash. He doesn't pull, but he might trip you by accident. There's just so much to see and sniff! He loves going for walks, seeing new places and just learning how life works. He even got a job as a greeter at a brewery! Overall Chance is so excited to do just about anything you can think of, but he's also an A+ snuggler. Chance is the total package and so deserving of an amazing forever home.

If interested in adopting a puppy, you must be local to San Diego County, Murrieta or Temecula, and have a private yard or large patio area that is securely fenced with a minimum height of 5 feet, as puppies are not fully vaccinated.

Please consider sponsoring Chance with either a one-time or monthly tax-deductible donation. Your donation will help It's The Pits with day-to-day care, including food, vaccinations, flea treatment, treats and toys. Click on the Sponsor This Pet link above to make your donation today. Thank you!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Potential families are asked to complete or Adoption Application before visiting our dogs. We introduce you and your family including any other dogs/cats in your family to our adoptable dogs. If the meeting is a good match we will schedule a home check to ensure that the home is a good match for the pet that you have selected. You will then be asked to complete our Adoption Agreement and to finalize the adoption there will be a processing fee to adopt a pet from us. All proceeds go directly back to help support our rescue and there are no paid employees so all fees are used for our pets waiting to be adopted.

More about this rescue

We are located in the San Diego area and pull dogs from southern California shelters and we assist families in rehoming their pets so that they don't have to go to a shelter.

I started doing rescue because I couldn't stand to see adoptable dogs being euthanized due to lack of an immediate home. I knew that I could find them good homes.
