My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Solstice is currently fostered in St Catharines.

Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website.

Solstice is a puppy who loves to cuddle her head into anyone who will pet her. She does very well in cars and has been successful in the bath. She is a puppy and will require training and rules in the home for her to grow up to be her best self. A dog in the home who can teach her the ropes would be beneficial but is not necessary. She would flourish alone as well. Solstice needs to be supervised and will search for food if unattended (in garbage or on counters). She is very food motivated which is great for training. Love kids and cuddles but definitely has mouthing tendencies and jumps up on people. She is learning commands like 'sit' and 'off' and is doing well. Sleeps in her crate well and settles easily. She would be a great addition to any home and is the perfect age to start training and keep being a wonderful pup!

Good with kids 6+: yes, however working on deterring her from jumping up on people and mouthing

Good with dogs: yes - would benefit from a leader dog in the home. She is getting used to learning to play and engage other dogs. Happy to live side by side in the meantime, but very curious and learning. Know how to take a correction from another dog and is submissive - will cry if a dog snarls at her.

Good with cats: unknown, imagine she would be curious but not intentionally chase or cause harm

House trained: working on it. Will go potty outside when taken but is still a puppy and learning to signal when she needs to go out.

Crate trained: will cry in her crate but is becoming familiar. She will go in as her safe place if she is overwhelmed and sleeps quietly in it at night.

Resource guarding: none seen

Walks on a leash: walks in zig zag. Needs work but still a puppy.

Energy level: puppy energy and puppy naps

Additional adoption info

R.E.B.E.L Dog Rescue is looking for committed adopters, ready to bring a rescue dog into their life. In order to ensure that we find the best homes for our dogs, adoption applicants must go through an adoption approval process. We receive a number of applications for each dog and only one will be chosen as the successful candidate. Candidates are selected based on the dog's needs. Not being selected for the dog that you applied for does not disqualify you from adopting from us in the future.

Go meet their pets

We do our very best to place our dogs into adoptive homes before they arrive into Canada. This ensures that they have a safe and loving place to go after their long journey up North. All dogs adopted through R.E.B.E.L Dog Rescue will receive a 15 day adoption probation period. This period starts the day the dog enters the care of the adopter. This means that the adoptive family has 15 days to determine that dog is a good fit for them. Although it may feel scary to not meet the dog before adopting, the 15 day period allows you to get to know the dog within your home. If you buy a dog off of Kijiji or at a local shelter you may be given a couple hours to meet the dog. We believe that our program's 15 day probation provides much more insight into how he or she will fit into your home, rather than. a brief meet and greet.

More about this rescue

R.E.B.E.L Dog Rescue was founded in 2020 by a small group of young women with one thing is common: a love for dogs. Since establishment, RDR has successfully found forever homed for over 700 dogs. Our mission is to rescue dogs in dire situations and give them a second chance at life through education and empowerment. All of our dogs come the streets and shelters across Texas, where they are experiencing a dog overpopulation crisis. Our team has travelled to the State to see first-hand how we can help and make a difference in the lives of animals.
R.E.B.E.L stands for: rescue, educate, believe, empower and love dogs. We live by these words every day and encourage the dog-loving community to follow suit!
