Penny is our ten year old cat. Over the last decade she has done a lot. She lived in a tiny apartment in nyc in her early kitten years, she joined us when we relocated to Georgia during Covid, she joined us on trips to our lake house in the Berkshires, and most recently, joined us to Brooklyn where we moved. I had a baby in 2022 and Penny who was normally friendly and relaxed, became unhappy and stressed. She doesn’t like my daughter and it has made her retreat from us. She is still very snuggly with me, sleeps in my bed, loves to be near people, but whenever my daughter is around she meows unhappily and hisses. Penny would do really well in a quiet home with someone very experienced with cats. She is older and so mostly sleeps a lot but likes to be around people. It is heartbreaking for me to rehome her but she does not seem happy here and I’d rather her live a stress free and calm life for the next part of her life where she will be at peace and not bothered by young children.
