My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** If you are interested in Tito, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ***

Meet Tito! Tito was picked up as a stray in Roswell, NM and brought into an overcrowded shelter. Tito has showed in his time at the shelter that he is so sweet, and great with people, other dogs, and even cats! He now has made his way to Colorado for a fresh start.

Tito is 2 years old, and a tiny 8 lbs. He is believed to be a Chiweenie; a Dachshund / Chihuahua mix.

Tito is SO silly and stinkin' adorable! His foster mom had the following to say about him:

"I swear Tito is the cutest dog we've ever met!!! He is SO CUTE and so small and SO SILLY and so friendly!!! 1000/10 dog!!!
This little dude is SO sweet, adorable, and friendly. He loves other dogs, he is great with cats, and he is great with people! He is small and truly so adorable.
I would say he is potty trained, but did have a few accidents when we first took him home. But once he learned the routine, he's been good!
He makes a little squeak sound when he is excited and wiggles his whole body and it's the cutest thing you will ever see!
He also LOVES toys!"

With any rescue dog, moving from a shelter to a foster to an adoptive home can be very confusing. When an adopting family is sensitive to the challenges of change and acclimation for these dog's, the transition is far easier. A home with a very loving and nurturing family that understands that blossoming takes time would be perfect home for Tito. Socialization, pure love and belly rubs is a gift to a dog that is undergoing a life change. Given the time and space, these dogs shine.

As any new rescue dog, Tito would benefit from attending a level 1 training class taught by one of our approved trainers. Farfel's Farm believes in only using positive reinforcement/force free training methods, because we have found that to be more effective. Dogs that do not get proper training and socialization have a much higher risk of developing behavioral problems, and there is a bonding that occurs through the training process that can't be duplicated. It will also teach behaviors that will enable him to go out into the world with excellent manners, and it will create a very respectful relationship between him and his owner.

Tito is up to date on his vaccines, heartworm negative, and neutered.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.

**PLEASE NOTE**. If you're truly interested in adopting Alfie please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those those that don't submit a Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue!

Additional adoption info

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their one week foster. Our average adoption fee is $695. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, temperament testing, transport, a microchip, harness, food, and treats.
Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.

Go meet their pets

Pets are transported from the southern states every week. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at farfelsrescue.com. We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a one week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.

More about this rescue

We own a pet boutique named Farfel's Farm & Rescue on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. We have had the good fortune to find our niche in the Boulder community and experience success. We felt it very important to "pay it forward" in gratitude. We couldn't think of a better endeavor than to save dogs who were out of time in the southern states, yet had been identified with great temperaments. We dedicate our efforts to their good health and ultimate wonderful, permanent homes.
