Hazel is a 3-month-old Malinois/Pitbull mix and the ultimate cuddle bug! Currently weighing 15 pounds, her favorite place is right by your side, snuggled under a blanket, making the cutest little napping noises like squeaks and snorts. If you’re looking for a puppy with a heart full of love, Hazel is your girl!
This clever pup is making fantastic progress with house training, rarely having accidents. Crate training is coming along too—she’s fine eating in there by herself, but feels safer sleeping in there when her foster brother is nearby. Of course, she'd prefer to share your bed for nighttime snuggles!
Hazel gets along beautifully with other animals. She’s wonderfully polite and playful with her foster family's resident dog, and loves their games of tug-of-war. She’s also gentle and curious around cats, showing no aggression at all. While Hazel hasn’t met children yet, her sweet and calm nature suggests she’d do well with kids, especially with a bit of supervision as she adjusts.
Fetch is her absolute favorite game, and she takes great pride in hoarding her toys into a pile when she’s done playing. Hazel is vocal at times when she's playing, like barking when the mailperson comes, so she has a protective instinct. She would do best with either a human home often and/or another dog to play with, though this need may lessen over time. When she's all done, her favorite activity is napping!
Hazel is eager to find her forever family, and ready to fill your home with plenty of puppy love!

The adoption fee is $550. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
