Meet Bess! Bess is a yellow, fifty-five-pound, estimated at 2-3-years-old. She can stand to gain a few pounds. Bess was rescued just in time before she was scheduled for her demise at a local shelter. She takes time to warm up getting around new environments but once she knows no harm will come to her, she is fine. Bess is doing good around her female fur foster sibling who is approximately her size. She's been introduced to a small dog and did fine. We are not sure about cats. She is adjusting to being inside a home and thus far she has done well with her potty outside and walking on a leash. She knows to sit when asked or lay down she would do well with additional obedience training. She is food-motivated. She will go in a crate with the door open but isn’t fond of being locked up in one for any length of time. It appears someone may have kept her in one entirely too long, but fine for short periods. She will require a home where someone is there most days or works from home unless she gets to go to doggy daycare. She enjoys a fenced-in yard and does require one. If only dogs could talk, we would know their entire story. Sometimes they do tell us in their way. Bess rides fine in a vehicle but is anxious around them, so definitely would need time to adjust. It appears she may have had several litters of puppies at one point. After leaving the shelter, she went straight to the Vet Clinic to get medically vetted and there they noticed a slight limp on the right-side front leg after getting X-rayed, appears she has dysplasia and arthritis on her right elbow possibly an old injury mended on its own. We started her on a good supplement, and she seems to get around fine. She got to go with her foster mom to work and did very well as a doggie co-worker and met a few people that she did great around. To adopt Bess please go to our website to start the adoption process https://www.southernskiesrescue.org/adoption-application Bess is now fully medically vetted; spayed, up-to-date on all vaccines, heartworm tested negative and placed on prevention plus microchipped.
