My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.

Adopting a friend:
The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.

What you need to do to adopt:
If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done.

Meet & Greets:
An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.

Greetings!

My name is Madeline but I go by Maddie. I lost my home because my family lost their apartment due to rent increase and couldn't afford me anymore either. I'm about six years old now. Heartbreak but I REALLY want my new loving home.

I'm a beautiful lady that is sleek and long. I have a deep dark fur coat with a lot of spots in it. I have a very serious expression but actually I'm quite silly. My expression just makes it all the more funny... so says my foster mom. I also have the cutest nose that you have ever seen.

When I meow, I get a scrunchy nose which she thinks is hilarious. She calls me Maddie Mad. Whatever. I LOVE to be petted. My foster mom calls me a drive by because I like to walk by to be petted until I jump in your lap and cuddle on in.

I will sit in your lap as long as you will let me. I am the best office assistant that you will find. I like to put my paw in your hand... like we are holding hands. I also will stand on my haunches to get a pet or two, which my odd foster mom also thinks is a hoot.

I came to my foster home with no fur except for head and my paws. It was so embarrassing. My fur is all back now and I have to be on special food because apparently, I have food allergies. I am now on Farmia Vet Life Hydrolyzed Protein. My food lasts me a good long while.

I do just fine with other animals and I'd be great with calm children. I might have to be your only kitty unless you can figure out how to keep our food separated or have another kitty with the same issue that wants a friend. I might be a little shy at first but if you give me time to get over it, you will see I am the bestest kitty. I enjoy getting hugs & kisses. I enjoy you telling me how pretty, smart, brave, beautiful, amazing, funny, gorgeous, cute I am. You will adore me! I am a wonderful companion that will give you an accusing look when you leave .

I hope you don't leave me for long.

Love,
Maddie

If you would like to meet your new best friends, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you cannot get it to work, let us know and we will email it to you in a different format.

Unless otherwise noted, all Almost Home cats are healthy, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and flea & tick preventative.

ADOPTION FEE:

The adoption fee for a cat is $85.

The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets.

The adoption fee for a dog is $200.

The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets.

Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced.

The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer.

We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need.

Additional adoption info

Unless otherwise noted, all Almost Home animals are healthy, spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventitive (if dog,) and flea & tick preventitive.

If you would like to adopt a pet from Almost Home, start by completing our application, which is available online at www.almosthometn.org. Our adoption process includes reference checks, a home visit, a one week trial period, and a contract. Our goal is to find the best fit for our animals, and for their new families.

ADOPTION FEES:

The adoption fee for a CAT is $85 or two for $145. KITTENS are $100 or two for $185. The adoption fee for kittens includes the cost of spaying/neutering and their rabies shot when they are old enough (usually five months).

The adoption fee for a DOG is $150 or two for $265. PUPPIES are $200 or two for $365. The adoption fee for puppies includes the cost of spaying/neutering and their rabies shot when they are old enough (usually five months).

The adoption of more animals, or a different combination of animals, are welcome and fees will be reduced.

Micro-chipped cats and dogs are an additional $15.

NOTE: Some cats and dogs have a different fee than those listed above. It is noted on their posting. Mature pet adoption fees are lower to encourage people to adopt these wonderful animals who have a lot of love to give. The adoption fee for pure bred or desirable mixed breed dogs and cats is based on the average fee charged by area rescues and/or breed specific rescues.

ADOPTION FEES COVER LESS THAN 75% OF THE COST OF VETTING OUR ANIMALS. WE RELY ON DONATIONS AND GRANTS TO COVER THE REMAINDER.
