My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This sweet 4 year old brindle boxer mix is Sadie. Sadie was picked up as a stray in a low resource community, and thankfully made her way to TAPS. This girl has clearly not had an easy life. Sadie has recently had puppies, and bears scars on her face. Despite the hardships of her past, Sadie remains a very sweet girl. She enjoyed our walk, but seemed to be watching her surroundings and looking back for reassurance. Once inside and away from the shelter noise, she seemed to relax and curled up next to my granddaughter for some gentle words and pets. This girl really pulled at me heartstrings! I think Sadie would do best in a home that will help build her confidence back up.

More about this shelter

TAPS-Tazewell Animal Protective Society was founded in 1958 in Pekin Illinois in a building donated by the City of Pekin on River Road. In 1979, rapidly rising river water forced the evacuation of the animals. Once again, the City of Pekin stepped in and donated a building for the animals. Several moves later, and with the help and generosity of many volunteers and community members, TAPS now has a new home at 100 TAPS Lane. Last year we celebrated 50 year of caring for the homeless animals of Central Illinois.
