Olive is a sweet and gentle cat who may be a bit shy at first, but once she gets to know you, her soft and loving nature truly shines. This quiet beauty loves spending time in peaceful spaces, where she can feel safe and secure. Olive may take a little time to warm up to new people, but with patience and understanding, she’ll become your loyal companion.
She enjoys slow, gentle pets and will reward your kindness with her quiet purring. Olive would thrive in a calm, loving home where she can settle into a routine and feel comfortable enough to show her true, affectionate side. If you’re looking for a tender, low-key companion who will bring peaceful energy to your home, Olive just might be the perfect match!

Take your time getting to know the animal you wish to adopt. The pet you choose should be your pet for the rest of its life, so spend the time necessary to make the right choice. Our staff is happy to assist you in taking a dog out of the kennels or socializing with a cat in the cat room. We encourage each person in your household to get acquainted with an animal before it becomes a new member of your family. We also suggest you bring your present pets in for an introduction to the new animal to form some ideas about their compatibility. Our shelter is open Tuesday through Friday, 12-5 pm and Saturdays from 10 am-5 pm. In order to complete the adoption process, it is necessary to begin adoptions by 4:30pm.

More about this shelter
Our mission is to provide animals with loving care and lasting homes, to partner with communities striving to do the same, and to advance our no-kill legacy.
We accomplish our mission by transferring cats and dogs to our facilities from public shelters in the Bay Area and beyond when they are in danger of being euthanized due to space or financial limitations.
Pets In Need has shelters in Redwood City and Palo Alto. We have owned and operated our Redwood City shelter since 1993, and in 2019 we began operating the Palo Alto Animal Shelter in partnership with the City of Palo Alto.
Pets In Need is now operating the Palo Alto Animal Shelter. The City of Palo Alto still provides Animal Control Services for the cities of Palo Alto, Los Altos, & Los Altos Hills, CA
