I am Looking For: My loving forever family! Hi! I'm Dixie, and I am a sweet, reserved girl that's been looking for a forever home for two and a half years! I won’t ask for much- just some love, cuddles and a little patience -- I promise to be your steadfast companion for the rest of my years!
What my Foster Says About Me: Coming soon!
What The Shelter Says About Me: Dixie came to us pregnant, raised a beautiful healthy litter of kittens and now just wants a nice cozy bed and someone to pet her occasionally. A quiet companion for your staycation home! She's like those of us who don't want to be petted and fawned over all the time. Dixie even has a good coping mechanism...if she wants to pretend that you are not there, she will just close her eyes. Magic! Now that Dixie has gotten some teeth removed, she seems to be more comfortable. While she doesn't seek attention, or move around a lot, she seems to enjoy her neck scratches and gentle petting. She will either curl up into a tighter ball and purr or move away. Dixie knows what she likes. Dixie loves other adult cats she lives with and they always seem to be comfortable around her (she says she's a cat's cat). One volunteer shares... 'Dixie is a bit more reserved than our other cats but loves quiet attention. She really enjoys being brushed or rubbed and will purr loudly. She used to be mostly in the background but has started coming to the door of the cat playroom when she sees a volunteer! She used to be incredibly shy and would close her eyes tightly when touched. but never tried to scratch me.' Months ago she would move away from people, (perhaps because of mouth pain), but now she just continues to sleep and purrs as her neck or back is gently stroked.
