My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Max!

Max is an 11 month, 35-lb Hound Mix who loves cuddles and being close to his people. He likes to be close by and hang out all day but he LOVES interacting with kids!

While Max is still optimistically cautious around adults, he loves being hugged and petted. He is great around other pets, cats and dogs included! He is a great walking companion and loves exploring outdoors. Max is doing great at house training. He does his business in the backyard and has not had any accidents inside the house.

Max does not play with toys yet; he may not have been around them before and doesn’t know what to do. He has, however, started to show interest in a small ball that he likes chewing. We are optimistic that with time and patience, he will start having fun with toys.

Although Max likes to stay in the company of his foster family at meals, he doesn’t ask for any food. He does love when he gets some apple slices. Max is very quiet and we haven’t heard him bark yet. He is making progress in crate training, he likes to chill in his open crate during the day. Max has also consistently slept in his locked crate from 10pm-7am. He is a master of the “drop it” and “no” commands and obeyed every time he was asked.

If you're looking for gentle soul who will keep you company and watch some tv quietly with you on the couch, he might be your perfect match. He is a true gentlemen and is super low key.

Max is currently being fostered in Staten Island, NY. His adoption fee is $500.

To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
