My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Empress, and I am a 1 ½ year old petite British Blue girl. Yes! You heard me correctly! A true to life British Blue! Sadly, my original mom became very sick and was unable to care for me, so a kind friend found Texas CARES, knowing they would take good care of me. My foster mom couldn’t wait to meet me because she has a giant British Lilac boy that she wanted to introduce me to. We are a rare breed, and she has never seen another since adopting him. Because we are so smart, calm, often verbally reserved, gentle and an all-around great family cat, she knew we would immediately recognize each other’s awesomeness and get along.

When I first arrived at my foster home, I hid out for a few days. It had nothing to do with my humans, but there were five other cats here who I was sure wanted to eat me. It ended up that no one wanted to eat me, but they are still a little possessive of their home, so I had to groove my way in. I like to play chase, but I’m not so into the wrestling thing. I do LOVE toys, getting into small places, walking on the fireplace mantle, finding a cubby in the bookshelves, walking on the curtain box valences, sitting on a kitchen chair to watch all that’s going on, and exploring. I can sneak into a room, closet, washer, dryer or pantry like a stealth jet, so never trust that you know I’m still behind you! It’s one of my talents!

I like to be near my people and would like to sleep on the bed with them, but there are too many kitties here and I feel I need to find my own sleeping space. I do love to corner my human in the bathroom for some captive pets. I will act like I don’t want to be held, but If I feel safe, I enjoy being hugged into a ball and pet on your lap. I’ll always take pets when weaving in and out of your legs!

Did I say I was a tiny little girl? Well, I am! If you know my breed, we are often on the larger size. Not so with me. I am petite, adorable, easily held, the perfect snuggle and just so precious! There’s not a mean bone in my tiny little self either. I will hiss at the foster five here if they get in my space with tough intentions, but hey, what else am I supposed to do when I mean NO!

If you are interested in one of the most adorable and sought-after breeds of incredible kitties, who are also inherently loving, thrive near their humans, well behaved, non-destructive and have eyes to talk you into anything I want, come visit me! You better come fast, for I will be gone in a flash!  Since I am a purebred British Blue, my adoption fee is $500.
