Meet Electric Avenue, a brave 8-month-old cat who's looking for a loving and patient forever home. Electric Avenue came from a challenging situation where there were more animals than the caregiver could properly care for. Due to her past, she may not have been properly socialized to live with people and can be understandably shy and fearful around humans. Despite these challenges, she has shown resilience and a quiet curiosity as she navigates the world around her.

Electric Avenue’s ideal home would be a calm, quiet environment where she can feel safe and start to build trust. While she may take time to adjust and form bonds, with patience and gentle encouragement, Electric Avenue has the potential to blossom into a loving companion. Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Adopters can stop in during open hours to find their new pet! There may be different criteria based on the individual animal.

Submit Application

Our application is more of a survey in person. We find out more about your home and lifestyle to make sure the adoption will be fur-ever.

3.
Meet the Pet

We will provide you with all the information on the pet and then set you up with a space to interact with your potential new best friend.

Sign Adoption Contract

Super easy and can be done through your phone!

Pay Fee

Yep! Fees vary based on age and species.

We invite you to visit the shelter locations and meet the animals and the adoption team!

Our adoption process is aimed at matching you, your family and your current pets with our animals for adoption. An adoption counselor will introduce you to our animals in a private meeting room. We will share information about the animal's medical and behavioral needs as well as their history.

When you find the right pet for you and your family, the adoption counselor will assist you in completing the proper paperwork. This process includes signing an adoption contract, reviewing medical history and providing proper pet care information.

What you will need in order to adopt:

A valid photo ID with your current address.

We recommend all members of the household meeting the animal before adopting.

If you are interested in adopting a dog and have other dog(s) living in your household, it is recommended that all dogs meet each other at the shelter.

Certain animals require additional steps or requirements.

Adoption fee is accepted in cash or credit/debit card. Checks, American Express, Discover, Care Credit are not accepted as payment.

PLEASE NOTE: We are not able to place a hold or accept a deposit for animals that are not available for adoption, that you have not done a formal meet and greet with, or over the phone. Adoptions are approved for the first qualified home. Adoption is not guaranteed and is at the discretion of Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh.
