My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Elf is a 25-pound Mini Schnauzer mix, estimated to be around 1 year old. This sweet boy is full of charm and ready to find his forever home!

The Highlights:

• Great with adults, kids, and other dogs. He loves making new friends!

• House-trained and crate-trained. Elf is a well-mannered pup who sleeps surrounded by his beloved soft toys.

• Moderate energy level. He enjoys playing with other dogs and adores squeaky toys—he’ll keep you entertained for hours!

• Smart and affectionate. Elf mastered the doggy door in no time and loves having his ears rubbed.

A Few Notes:

• He’s a bit scared in the car but is working on building his confidence.

• He can be flighty if frightened, so a little extra care is needed in new environments.

• While not tested with cats, he hasn’t shown any aggression and adapts well to his surroundings.

Backstory:

Elf was rescued just before Christmas, arriving at the shelter severely matted, underweight, and in need of care. After a fresh groom, he looks like a whole new dog! He’s blossomed into a friendly, affectionate pup who is eager to trust and bond with humans again.

Whether you’re looking for a companion for your current pup or a playful only dog, Elf will make a wonderful addition to any loving home. Could he be your new best friend?
IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.

Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adopt

All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.

ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location.

Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transport

We understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.January 22, 2025, 3:04 pm

More about this rescue

We're a home-based rescue, so there's always someone around to care for the dogs. Most of our dogs are allowed to roam the main yard (as long as they behave themselves), and we have several food and water stations throughout. Every evening, the dogs are tucked into our kennel building with soft bedding.

Our focus is family-friendly dogs who get along with everyone. Of course, we sometimes don't know a dog's temperament until we meet, but we work hard to ensure dogs are going to the right homes for them.

Mission Statement
To provide rescue, rehabilitation and new loving homes for dogs that have been living on the street, abused, abandoned and removed from high kill shelters.
