My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Donkey, a lab mix with the sweetest face and the most adorable white markings that make him look like he’s wearing a tuxedo! At about 10 lbs now with LOTS of room to grow, Donkey is all
puppy—he’s got energy for days and a curiosity that knows no bounds and would do great in most any family. This little guy is looking for a loving family and will prove to be the best friend you need to keep you on track with your walking goals as well as needed daily snuggle time. If you're up for some playtime, cuddles, and a little puppy partying, Donkey is your guy!
*Weekend Host feedback: "He made amazing steps with crate training and confidence. He now goes in on his own periodically and enjoys treats and peanut butter kong for quiet time. Donkey did wonderfully with our two pups and our three elementary age kids. He favors rope toys and enjoyed tug o war with the humans and other pups. He's even mastered our doggie door to play and potty outside. This was a big confidence booster for him! Donkey is learning potty training, but has become quicker to potty outside when taken out frequently. He has puppy energy but loves to snuggle after tiring out with tug of war".

Additional adoption info

All puppies and dogs at Saving Grace are crate trained, have been spayed/neutered, are up to date on their vaccines, are on heartworm preventative and have been microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00. Each has been carefully screened for disposition and temperament in order to provide your home with a safe companion that will enjoy life as your new family member.

If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please complete an Adoption Application at our website: savinggracenc.org

Sending an Application does not commit you to an adoption, it simply provides us with background information on potential homes. Please review our Adoption Contract before sending an Application to ensure that you will be able to provide the requirements stated in the contract. The Contract must be signed at the time of adoption.

Saving Grace is a small, non-profit 501-C3 organization operated by volunteers only. Most of our animals come from rural animal control shelters where lack of space and resources limit their time and adoption possibilities. Thank you for choosing Saving Grace! We look forward to helping you find your new companion and family member.

More about this rescue

Located in central North Carolina and officially established in 2004, Saving Grace has placed over 15,000 dogs into homes since its inception. These dogs were from rural animal control facilities with little resources and who would otherwise not had the opportunity to receive necessary veterinary care and a chance at adoption. While we have grown significantly over the years and have been successful growing our numbers we still see many great dogs miss the opportunity of adoption.

We have a large variety of dogs varying in breed, size, shape, age and needs and would love to work with you to find you a great dog companion while providing a dog in need with a loving home. Our dogs are chosen based on temperament and socialization. We get some of the most charming, unique mix breeds as well as some striking purebreds. Our dogs come from rural, underserved areas and while they may have little experience as an indoor family member, they have the temperament and personality that is sure to bring much love and appreciation to their new home. Most have started their crate training while in our program. Veterinary care including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test, vaccinations, monthly preventatives are provided prior to each adoption. If you would like more information about adopting one of our dogs, please email savinggrace@savinggracenc.org
