My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Filming is ready to roll here on the set of HSWC production studios. Toy Story 18 is going to be the hit of the year. Come out and meet the main stars:
Jesse, Woody, Bo peep and
And a new star called Precious!
In this much loved sequel the stars embark on adventures with their pal Mr Animal Control officer to fight crime and save animals on the eastern shore of Maryland. You won't want to miss this fur raising adventure series. In the first scene our hero's must rescue Precious from inside the castle. In true comedic fashion they execute their mission and introduce this pint sized Precious pal to join the cast of characters.

Precious has led a sheltered life, kept away from people. She is not sure who her friends are. Or how to make friends.
She is independent and runs her own show. Once she figures you out, she can be gentle and easy going. She needs a minute to build trust. She will first tell you to "move along" and "leave her alone" but once you offer her friendship, ear scratches and snacks, she tolerates you in her space.
She thinks she might be a guard dog. She resents being laughed at because she only weighs 8 pounds. So don't ruffle her feathers ! She's no pushover. She likes who she likes. If you are her friend she accepts you. She's Not big on sharing. She's had a ruff start in life and wasn't given enough food, proper grooming, flea treatments or socialization.
⚠️ She has more weight to gain to be her ideal weight.
8 pounds currently.
We will learn more about our new friend as she settles in on the set. For now we are going slowly, introducing her to a few people at a time so we don't overwhelm her. Giving her a crate and a safe space where she can feel secure and open up in her time.
🐈‍⬛ Cat tolerance TBD.
🐶Limited experience with dogs. Kept separately, she's not sure if she really wants a sibling. Meet and greets to determine compatibility are required.

Sweet petite, a small treasure of Precious value. We are looking to place her in a quiet home where she can learn to thrive with time, love and commitment to her health and well being. You don't want this sweet girl to pass you by. Please turn in your app quickly and be the hero we need.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Wicomico County was started in 1968 by a group of people who wanted to help improve the lives of animals. We have come a long way in our 40+ years! We have a staff dedicated to making sure the animals that come to our doors are loved and protected as they wait for their forever home. Not only are our animals vaccinated, wormed and given flea preventative, we can treat animals that come to us with mange, ringworm, heartworm and pay for animals to be seen by an outside vet should there be a need. We have an on-site spay/neuter clinic that not only is used for our animals but we also offer low cost spay/neuter for animals of the public. We provide emergency boarding for victims of domestic abuse, fire, and medical emergencies. We also have the capability to set up an off-site emergency shelter for people evacuated from their homes. In addition, we have an education program to help teach kids about being a responsible pet guardian. We work with a wide range of rescue groups and our animals have been transported from our mid-Atlantic area throughout the North Eastern United States. Our shelter is an open admission shelter and we will take in approximately 3500 animals this year. We do what we do because of our love for animals and our desire to make a difference in their lives every single day.
