Meet Blanco! This spunky, small (only 7.8 lbs!) and loving adult Chihuahua mix is looking for a new home after being surrendered by his family of over 5 years. Blanco is still learning that not all humans are scary, so he’ll need a patient family willing to give him time to settle into his new environment and routine. Once Blanco realizes he can trust you, his true playful personality shines! He loves going on walks and hikes, and gets the cutest short bursts of playful energy before snuggling up on the couch for belly rubs. He is truly the perfect balance of adventure-seeking and homebody.

Blanco’s foster family is helping him overcome his separation anxiety, making progress with gradual alone time, treat distractions, and positive reinforcement. He finds comfort in the company of his foster brother (a 3-year-old resident dog) and often follows him from room to room when home alone.

Blanco would thrive in an adult-only family (or one with older children) who is home most of the time. He would love another mature dog sibling to help continue to build his confidence and keep him company when home alone. His playful and affectionate personality has brought so much joy to his foster family. With a patient family who understands how confusing these changes can be for a dog, Blanco will continue to thrive and be the most loving companion!

Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Blanco is $300.

The Grateful Dogs Rescue adoption procedure is designed to find a good match between the dog and adopter. Our goal is a happy foster to forever transition. The adoption procedure includes an application, interview, home check, and an adoption donation. The adoption donation helps to cover spay/neuter, shots and other medical care given before the dog is made available for adoption.

Grateful Dogs Rescue was founded in 1990; its mission is to rescue dogs not made available for adoption at San Francisco Animal Care and Control, and other local shelters, through no fault of their own. Rather than letting these dogs be euthanized, Grateful Dogs saves as many as possible by fostering these dogs in a loving home until a forever loving home is found.

Grateful Dogs Rescue is always in need of new foster homes! You can make a difference by fostering. The number of dogs we can save is dependent on having foster parents to care for them until they find their forever homes. All of our dogs are in foster care.
