My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Moose is a 3 year old Rottweiler that was picked up as an emaciated stray by a local shelter. Through some heroic efforts from our team of vets and volunteers, he has now been nursed back to being a healthy and happy dog.  His last hurdle is now to undergo heartworm treatment which will be completed around mid February.  He is all that you expect from a Rotweiller with intelegence being one of his greatest attributes.  He loves his training sessions for obedience and already knows several commands although further proofing is still needed.  He will do best and a home that is relatively structured and has the time to continue with training and enrichment
He waits patiently on his “place” bed while his meals are prepared and even holding until he is released with the command “free” long after the bowl has been set down.  He can do “sit” and “down” like most good dogs but he is also now working to perfect his “heal” command and walking nice on leash.  He absolutley loves meeting new people and his excitement shows with wiggeling of not just his little nub tail but his whole back side.  He is crate trained and is good with dogs and cats.  He will do best in a home with out small children or the elderly since he is still very rambunctios and will need a fully fenced yard to gallop around in(preferrably 6ft stockade).   He does show some toy possesion growling so we never grab a toy out of his mouth, but he will drop the toy on command by saying “drop” and then we give him a treat(soon no treats will be necessary) and you can retrieve it with out any concern.  He is very well house trained and does not have any issues with marking in the house. we are now accepting applications for him. His adoption fee is $150

Most of our available animals are in foster homes, not at the city shelter. We hold adoption outreach events most Sundays from 3-6pm in Yukon, OK. Those and any other events are listed at https://www.facebook.com/fomasok/events
A private meet and greet with a pet can also be scheduled after an application is submitted.
