My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please complete  an Adoption Request Form. This is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about our adoption process, please visit our Adoption Process page on our website at www.rescuecrew.org.

Hello future family! My name is Enola but my foster mom calls me Lakota. Enola is alone backwards because thats exactly what I was when I came into rescue but since I am no longer alone they wanted something a little happier and Lakota means found! And thats what I am, I am found! I have found my trust in people and other dogs. I have found my playful, loving personality, I have found that I REALLY love having a full belly and all the treats that a girl could ask for. I have also found some of the missing hair from when I had mange!

Since coming to my foster home I have learned a few basic commands like sit, no, and to come when called I am working on shake right now! I have never gone to the bathroom in the house and I am working real hard on crate training. I am not a huge fan of being kenneled and sometimes need a reminder at night that its time to sleep but once I get that reminder I settle in for the night and do not make a sound until the next morning when its time to eat! Oh how I love to eat! My foster mom has been feeding me with a slow feeder bowl and snuffle mat to help me slow down, otherwise I just gobble up my meals as fast as I can and then dont feel great afterwards. Bonus the snuffle mat helps with some of my energy making me sniff and root around for my food.

There are 2 other dogs in my foster home and I love to play with them! We run around the back yard and wrestle. We sit and try to learn tricks together for treats. We have even had pajama parties! There are these animals in the back yard called chickens and boy oh boy they look like a fun time. My foster mom wont let me by them though and I am learning impulse control around them. She thinks that small critters including cats might be a bit much for me at the moment but maybe one day when I have slowed down a little.

I do have some energy that my foster mom thinks that either a nice long walk, Playing with balls in the back yard (I am learning to bring them back to have them thrown again! IT IS SO FUN!) or a trip to the dog park will take care of. Once I get some exercise I am so happy to go in the house grab a bone or toy to chew on and veg out. I have been learning what is mine to play with and what is a "leave it". I have been wearing these stylish jammies to help my skin heal and boy oh boy it is really helping! I will still need time for my fur to grow back but my mange is gone and now its just a waiting game! When I was found I had a chain embedded in my neck that they had to surgically remove. That is all healed up now and even after all I have been through I am still one of the sweetest girls you will ever meet. I have not met anyone that I do not like and am always so happy to make a new friend! There is this little human in my home and I love to snuggle with her!

While I do still have a little more healing before I can be fully vetting, my foster mom thinks that I should be ready for my new furever home in less than a month! So if you are interested in learning more about me or meeting me fill out an application!

Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption.

The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Request Form prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at www.RescueCrew.org. You can also access the necessary online forms here as well.

Additional adoption info

We want to be sure that the adoption process is as smooth and positive an experience as possible. Our animals are in foster homes and we do everything we can to learn as much about their likes and dislikes, temperament and activity level as we can while in our care. By doing so, it enables us to work more closely with a potential adopter to help ensure a "good fit." The adoption process might take a bit longer than adopting from a shelter, but our ultimate goal is finding a match that benefits not just the animal, but also the family interested in adopting.

We are looking to let our adopters chose the speed of the adoption process. To start the process, we require that an adoption application be completed. Once submitted, we will connect with you to discuss the type of animal you're looking for, your lifestyle and home environment, and what the best fit may be. At times, we may request to conduct a home visit, which can often be done in tandem with what we refer to a "meet and greet" where you have the opportunity to meet and interact with the animal(s) you're interested in adopting. Ad part of our process we conduct background check on all applicants, will check personal and vet references also. Our goal is always the proper placement for any adopted animal, which may mean that the animal you originally are interested in may turn out to not be the best fit, but we will work with you to find a better match. Adoption fees include spaying/neutering of all animals, age appropriate vaccinations ad microchipping and range anywhere from $80-$175 for cats and $200-$450 for dogs.

Prior to finalizing adoptions we require a signed Contract & Agreement which includes an understanding that if for any reason the animal does not work out that you will return them back to The Rescue Crew.

Go meet their pets

As all of our animals are in private foster homes, we do not have a facility where adoptable animals can be met. However, we do host adoption events occasional throughout the Twin Cities metro area, and those will be posted both on our website and Facebook pages.

More about this rescue

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Minnesota-based animal rescue organization which strives to prevent the unnecessary euthanasia of companion animals by finding them loving forever homes. The Rescue Crew was established specifically to fill a need in the local Twin Cities metro area to help shelter animals facing imminent risk of euthanasia without rescue support.

OUR MISSION: We are here to help save the lives of companion animals in need. Those who are homeless; the abused or abandoned; the neglected and unloved, and to show them human compassion and kindness, ultimately helping them become valued family members in a loving home.

OUR VISION: We envision the day where every adoptable animal has the opportunity of finding a responsible, loving home. A world where pets are no longer mistreated, abused or abandoned.
