Say hello to your new friend Plaza, a charming 8-year-old tortoiseshell cat seeking her forever home. Plaza is one of those cats who is happy to greet you with cute little chirps when you come into the room. Her fosters report that, when given the choice, she prefers to be with them over exploring all the spaces of the foster home. Plaza is a delightful blend of sweetness, sass, playful, and is DEFINITELY cuddly. She gives headbutts, lets you kiss her head, and loves to lay next to you in bed, sometimes letting out a very cute snore! This 8 yr old, beautiful tortie purrs when she’s pet, and especially enjoys all the areas around her face and neck, and will sometimes allow belly rubs. She kneads her paws on fuzzy blankets and scratches the tall sisal cat tree in her room. Plaza will chase the little red dot or a string toy across the floor and chase a ball down the hallway, but her favorite toy is a fuzzy mouse! She also really enjoys kitty treats.
Plaza asks to be the recipient of 100% of your feline love and attention, as she is not a fan of other cats. We don’t know if she has any experience with dogs. She has excellent litter box manners. Plaza makes friends with humans, and would appreciate having one or two humans who appreciate her unique personality.
As a typical tortie, she has boundaries and is sometimes aloof and just wants some alone time. If she’s done being petted, she will give you signs. Learning her body language isn’t difficult, you just have to be observant, especially in the first months while you’re getting to know each other.

Step 1: Check out the adoptable cats, dogs and small companion animals listed on our website.** Animals with a blue “I’m in Foster” banner are not currently in our shelter. See below for our adoption process for animals in foster homes.
Step 2: Visit our shelter during adoption hours (Monday-Friday 2-6 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 11 a.m.-4 p.m.). When you arrive, you will first be asked to fill out our Shelter Adoption Application with your information. You may also pre-fill our Shelter Adoption Application ahead of time online to save time when you are at the shelter. Your application will be processed after you meet the animal.
Step 3: Tour our adoption rooms and write down the names of animals that you would like to meet. A volunteer or staff member will help you meet your chosen animals to make a match!
Step 4: When you have selected the right animal for you, our Adoptions Team will run your Adoption Application for approval. Once your application is approved, you will participate in an adoption class where you will learn all of the details about your new adopted family member, including their known history and medical records.
What else to expect: Animals who are already spayed/neutered and past their stray hold (if applicable) can often go home with you the same day. Pick-up arrangements for unaltered animals and/or animals still on a stray hold will be made during your adoption class.

We are an open admission shelter, granting refuge to every abandoned, neglected, abused, lost or surrendered animal that comes through our door.
